We have yet to perform a thorough review of the history of the Yosemite. However, we do have the information from Lehr and Best’s book.
The Yosemite was a Yankee ship whose Captain was John McKinnon. When heading for Gloucester from Placentia Bay, carrying frozen herring as well as human passengers, the vessel crashed on a reef. The ship ended up off the Nova Scotian coast at Ram Island. All but one crew member made it out alive.
