1937 Grand Falls Mill

Jim Payne kindly provided information about this tragedy. On September 10, 1937, not far from the pulp and paper mill in Grand Falls-Windsor, three workers, William Wall, Albert Marshall, and Anthony Tobin, were killed when a runaway rail car crashed into a group of workers during construction at the mill. The story was well covered in the local newspaper, The Grand Falls Advertiser. It is possible that a photocopy of the story can be read in the local Mary March Museum.
